Our Thanksgiving Table

Hi everybody, this is Tom Bickimer, and I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to sitting down to a Thanksgiving feast with my family.

In some respects, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  Commercialism has yet to figure out how to ruin it, although the black Friday sales are encroaching more and more upon this special day.  Thanksgiving has always been about celebrating our blessings.  It’s a time-out we give ourselves from the hustle and bustle of our every-day lives to focus on what really matters. 

It’s also a time to remember that there are people less fortunate than us.  Those we tend to avert our eyes from when we pass them on the street.  The bone-weary with next meal worries who walk the soup lines and welfare lines.  Folks looking for their next meal, a friend, a place to lay their head.

 We are the fortunate ones- that is Thanksgiving’s reminder to us, God’s blessings bountiful upon our Thanksgiving tables, where kindness reigns and water turns into wine and breaking bread becomes an invitation to the least of our brethren to rise, like Lazarus, and have hope.

There is much to be thankful for at Bickimer Homes.  It is a privilege to work with our customers and our subcontractors and suppliers.  We are the fortunate ones- we know that.  The work is hard and our days are long, but there isn’t anything else we’d rather be doing.  In the spirit of this holiday season, Bickimer Homes will be making a donation to Morning Glory Ministries, a special local organization devoted to helping the homeless- we encourage you to do the same.
