Urban Redevelopment
Bickimer Construction believes in the strength of community. A strong community, whether found in the suburbs or our cities’ urban cores, can foster economic and personal growth. For the past 12 years, we have teamed with the community development groups Community Housing of Wyandotte County (CHWC) and City Vision Ministries (CVM) to build over 125 affordable new homes in the inner-city of Kansas City, Kansas. Our neighborhood revitalization efforts have resulted in increased economic growth, higher standards of living, and a renewed sense of homeownership pride in the areas in which we build.
Currently Bickimer and CHWC are in the midst of an ambitious program called “House to Home,” building 20 new homes in the Bethany community of Kansas City, Ks. This program will enable people who normally would not be able to own a home to become proud homeowners. These new homes’ affordability is further enhanced by energy-saving and green building practices certified by the Energy Star Program.
Additionally, Bickimer Construction participates in the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP). Through this program cities purchase vacant, foreclosed properties, contract with community development groups who work with contractors such as Bickimer to renovate the homes, and then resell them to deserving, qualified families.
With the help of our community development partners, Bickimer is deeply committed to revitalizing neighborhoods and communities in the urban core of Kansas City, Kansas.
